Everyone loves shortcuts. Sometimes you have a bunch of stuff running, and you want it all to go away so you can get to your desktop. Simply pressing Windows key + D will minimize everything you have up, which will save you some time pressing the minimize button for each window.

And if you're addicted to using emoji, desktop operating systems support them natively just like mobiles do. On Windows, press the Windows Key + . (period) and on macOS Cmd + Control + Spacebar. An emoji panel will appear so you can carry on as usual using all the expressions you want. Very professional!

, a Canada 150 Research Chair at the University of Toronto, will be giving a seminar as part of the MMS seminar series on Wednesday at 12:30 titled: 鈥淭here is no time for science as usual: Materials Acceleration Platforms鈥.

Attention Students!

You are invited to participate in a cross-Canada research study to evaluate post-secondary student stress. The Post-Secondary Student Stressors Index (PSSI) was designed to help post-secondary institutions across Canada better target campus mental health services, with the ultimate goal of improving mental health outcomes for students.

To ensure that the PSSI would serve students in the best possible way, I involved students heavily throughout the development and testing of this tool. Now it鈥檚 time to use the PSSI at post-secondary institutions across Canada to improve our understanding of the types of stressors students are managing in different parts of the country.

We are looking for student volunteers to complete an online survey a few times over the course of the 2020鈥2021 academic year. The first survey was conducted in October. We are now looking for volunteers to complete the survey in January and in March. If you did not participate in the survey in October, you can still participate this month! The survey should take you about 20 mins to complete.

As a thank you for participating, you will have the opportunity to submit your e-mail into a draw after each survey for a chance to win one of several $50 gift cards.

If you are interested in participating, please read the  prior to completing the survey. The survey can be accessed at the following link:

With gratitude and humility, we dare ask again for volunteers for the 69传媒Campus Food Bank. We have posted the sign up sheet for January and February as the pandemic is teaching us smaller time frames are more helpful to adjust as we go. On and off campus donations have kept our shelves well stocked and gift cards are also appreciated by those who come.

Food bank hours will remain the same this semester: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 am鈥12 noon (divided into two slots) and Wednesday evening from 7-鈥8 pm. Volunteers are asked to come 15 minutes before opening and stay 15 minutes after closing, and commit 75 minutes for Tuesdays/Thursdays or 90 minutes on Wednesdays. Last semester we had a particular need for volunteers to help on Wednesday evening.  Each week, a reminder message with a few "Helpful Hints"  is sent to volunteers.

69传媒is launching the Harry W. MacLauchlan Entrepreneurship Program鈥檚 69传媒Panther Pitch, in which aspiring 69传媒student entrepreneurs can submit their start-up idea for a chance to win a minimum of $5,000 in seed money, with up to a total of $45,000 being granted each year.

We鈥檙e looking for interested 69传媒faculty and staff members to help mentor the student teams. Mentors will need to commit around one hour per week from late January until March 2021. This will be dependent on the needs of the student team and the mentor鈥檚 availability.

Working in pairs, mentors will provide weekly advice and guidance to a single student team.  The mentors will act as the team鈥檚 sounding board and provide professional and common-sense feedback.  The intent is to have one mentor from within the 69传媒community and one mentor from the broader community for each team.

Those interested in mentoring a team should email hwm_startups@upei.ca no later than Friday, January 8.

Please share this information with your network if you know of any potential mentors from 69传媒and/or the local community.
