Map the System is a one-of-a-kind challenge that requires students to use a systems-thinking approach to demonstrate a deep understanding of a pressing social or environmental challenge.

  • Join a global movement committed to systems change
  • Compete for cash prizes and an opportunity to present before a global audience
  • Learn new skills to address the world’s most pressing issues
  • Bring awareness to a social or environmental issue you are passionate about
  • Connect with socially-and environmentally conscious students, researchers, and practitioners from across Canada

Map the System is a competition run by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and delivered in partnership with educational institutions around the world.

Students (from all disciplines and levels) can register to participate individually or as part of a team of up to 5 members. There is no cost for students to register and participate in Map the System competition.

The Environmental Studies program will host two online information sessions:

Our friendly and helpful Writing Centre tutors are ready support you with your writing assignments and presentations!  Consult with a tutor at any stage of the writing or research process, including how to get started.  It's best to visit us early.  Give yourself time to apply revision suggestions.

Gold Rush is a virtual fundraising initiative that raises funds for UPEI’s varsity and club sport programs as well as enhances recreational offerings that are available to all 69´«Ã½students.

The Healthy Campus Committee, as part of the Employee Wellness Strategy, will be providing FREE Gentle Yoga Stretch & Meditation Classes for 69´«Ã½Faculty and Staff. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:10 pm – 12:50 pm. Classes will be on a four week rotation. Employees can only select one day (Tuesday or Thursday) and one month (February or March). This time around it's only a total of 4 classes/month. Yoga Instructors Colleen Gallant (Tuesdays) and Pam Harris-Stewart (Thursdays) will be leading the classes. Pre-registration required. No drop-ins. Tuesdays - February 2, 9, 16 and 23 or  March 2, 9, 16 and 23. Thursdays - February 4, 11, 18 and 25 or March 4, 11, 18 and 25. Space limited.

The virtual "networkshop" series on entrepreneurship launched by seven Atlantic Canadian universities in fall 2020 is continuing this winter. What is a networkshop? It is a hybrid event that is part networking and part workshop. The series is free, and 69´«Ã½students are welcome to register for any of the networkshops.

Please be advised that the Government of Canada is once again sponsoring the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program designed to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. To support employers through a period of economic recovery, temporary flexibilities will be offered for CSJ 2021 to respond to the needs of employers and youth.

Applicants will be able to seek funding to hire youth between April 26, 2021 and February 26, 2022. While employers are encouraged to offer quality jobs on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), part-time jobs (minimum of 12 hours per week) will also be eligible for funding. This flexibility was introduced to enable hiring of youth outside of the summer period.

Approved public and private sector employers will be eligible to receive a wage subsidy reimbursement of up to 75% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage—in PEI the minimum hourly wage will be $13.00. Scanner apps such as Adobe Scan, CamScanner, or Scanbot allow you to scan a document on the move. These apps let you take a picture of a document using your phone and save the document as a PDF. Some apps allow you to edit, annotate, sign and even work collaboratively with the documents you scan. Have a look - many are free to download. 

CIBC will be hosting an employment information session for Atlantic Canadian students to share insider details on becoming a Commercial Banking Associate. All interested 69´«Ã½students are encouraged to attend. 

There will be an information session for students from across the region, and then a breakout room exclusively for 69´«Ã½students where you will have a chance to chat more informally with a CIBC Executive.

The Island Lecture Series January session will feature Irish researcher Dr, Rory McCabe (Centre for Irish Studies, National University of Ireland Galway) joining us live from Clare Island, Ireland, to discuss music-making as a fundamental part of island community life and an important measure of island vitality. Following his presentation, Rory will be joined in conversation by Dr. Laurie Brinklow (Institute of Island Studies, UPEI), with an opportunity for questions from the audience.
