Lauren Rainford and Jonah Capriotti named 69传媒Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 69传媒Panther Athletes of the Week for January 29鈥揊ebruary 5, 2024, are Lauren Rainford (women鈥檚 basketball) and Jonah Capriotti (men鈥檚 hockey).
Rainford is an education student from Toronto, Ontario. She filled the stat sheet in the Panthers鈥� February 3 win over the Dalhousie University Tigers. The fourth-year guard scored a game-high 20 points with seven rebounds, five assists, four blocks, and two steals.

69传媒students encouraged to attend on-campus stem cell swabbing event February 7 and 8
Canadian Blood Services and the 69传媒Student Union are encouraging students to attend a stem cell swabbing event on February 7 from 11:00 am鈥�1:00 pm and February 8 from 12:00鈥�2:00 pm at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.
Members of the 69传媒campus community between the ages of 17 to 35 can register to become a stem cell donor and potentially be a match for one of the nearly 1,000 Canadian patients waiting for a lifesaving stem cell transplant.

Black Cultural Society of PEI hosts panel discussion
On February 8 from 5:00鈥�7:00 pm, the Black Cultural Society (BCS) of PEI will host a Black History Month panel discussion on campus at The Fox & Crow featuring 69传媒students and faculty. BCS Executive Director Tamara Steele will moderate a discussion around the experiences of the Black post-secondary student population.
Black History Month Celebration at 69传媒Basketball games
69传媒Athletics and Recreation will mark Black History Month on Saturday, February 3, during the 69传媒Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Basketball Panthers games against the Dalhousie University Tigers at 6:00 and 8:00 pm respectively at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. As part of the celebration, players will warm up in t-shirts designed by local designer Niki Adeogun. And Shura Hanna, president and director of communications with the 69传媒Black Student Association, will speak about Black History Month.
