69传媒Faculty of Nursing celebrates first-year students during Scrub Coat Ceremony

The 69传媒Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness, held its Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 27, 2024, at the 69传媒Performing Arts Centre. The ceremony was a celebration of 67 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 16 first-year accelerated nursing students.

History professor Dr. Edward MacDonald gives 鈥榣ast lecture鈥 to UPEI鈥檚 University 100 students

Dr. Edward MacDonald, CM, an award-winning professor of history at 69传媒and Island historian, will give his 鈥渓ast lecture鈥 to students in UPEI鈥檚 University 100 program on Wednesday, March 13, at 4:30 pm in SDU Main Building, Room 117. The lecture is open to the public.

The University 100 program helps students transition from secondary to post-secondary education, introducing them to the University and giving them key tools such as critical thinking, oral and written communication, and research skills.

Research on Tap--Render Unto Caesar: Catholics and the Alt-Right

The Internet has facilitated the creation of an Alt-Right movement that includes Catholics. This Research on Tap talk explores the ways in which such groups understand and use Catholicism (and the Internet) to attract followers to extremist and white supremacist movements.

Let鈥檚 take a walk through history on the wild side of Vancouver! Join us on Saturday, March 16, for a private Forbidden Vancouver walking tour of the Gastown neighbourhood, and hear tales of mobsters and bootlegging that might even rival some of PEI鈥檚 best-known rum-running folk tales. (Remember the Dark Ride at Rainbow Valley?)

Our private tour will begin outside the Monaco Caf茅 at 356 Water Street when the steam clock strikes 6:00 pm. We鈥檒l wind our way through the historic streets and back alleys of Gastown as dusk settles and the fabled street lanterns shine bright.

AVC students return from Kenya with experiences to last a lifetime

In January 2024, the Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 dairy vet team again went to Kenya as part of the partnership between Farmers Helping Farmers (FHF) and the 69传媒 (UPEI). The team included me and three senior AVC students, Kaitlyn Ledgerwood, Kaitlin Coles, and Meghan Martell who were enrolled in the fourth-year 鈥淚nternational Smallholder Livestock Health Management in Kenya鈥 rotation.
