Mass will be held at 6:00 pm in the Chaplaincy Centre followed by a light reception.

2012 Relay for Life

More than 20 teams of students will participate in a Canadian Cancer Society - Relay for Life event to be held on Friday, October 26 in the gym at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. Staff and faculty are invited to join 69´«Ã½students by putting a team in the 2012 Relay for Life. If you are not available to participate, support our 69´«Ã½students as they fundraise over the next few weeks. You can donate online to the event or to support a participating team:

69´«Ã½'Get Swabbed!' Challenge

The One Match 'Get Swabbed!' event is an initiative of Canadian Blood Services to grow the stem cell and marrow network. This event is part of a nationwide university challenge. 'Get Swabbed!' is an annual coast-to-coast university challenge designed to engage and recruite young and diverse potential stem cell donors. This year marks the third annual event where university students across the country will be bracing their cheeks to determine this year's national champion. Sports Legacy Dinner

The 2012 69´«Ã½Sports Hall of Fame induction will form part of the annual Sports Legacy Dinner where Academic All-Canadians from the last varsity season and named award winners are celebrated. Tickets for this year’s celebration are available for purchase by the general public for $75 each by contacting 69´«Ã½Athletics and Recreation at (902) 566-0432. The Prophet Muhammad: A Prophet for our Time?

Dr. Jamal Badawi, Professor Emeritus at St. Mary’s University, Halifax, N.S., will be giving a public talk on Thursday, October 11, 7:00–8:30 pm in McDougall Hall, Room 242. His presentation is entitled "The Prophet Muhammad: A Prophet for our Time?" Dr. Badawi's presentation will help towards a better understanding of Islam, he is the author of several works on Islam, including books, chapters in books, and articles. He also researched, designed, and presented a 352-segment television series on Islam which was aired in Canada, the US, and other countries. In addition to his participation in lectures, seminars, and interfaith dialogues in North America, Dr. Badawi has been invited as a guest speaker on Islam in 41 countries. Dr. Badawi is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law in recognition of his promotion of "a better understanding of Islam" and contribution "to civil society around the world." Those in attendance will be invited to ask questions pertaining to the topic at hand as well as about other topics related to Islam and Muslims. All are welcome.
