In our effort to make Prince Edward Island a better place to live, work and play, we invite all Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour Communities on PEI to share your personal lived experiences of racism. Whether you鈥檝e always called PEI home, or if you are a newcomer or a past resident, this is your opportunity to be heard.
The survey will touch on your personal experiences of encountering racism within various systems, like healthcare, education, employment, and housing.
Your responses will remain confidential and anonymous, and will contribute to a research study led by BIPOC-USHR.

Look for the Panther Patrol van! The parade begins at 12:00 p.m. and ends approximately at 12:30 p.m.
All you need to do to join the 69传媒parade team is to be yourself and be ready to wave and cheer. If you like, you can purchase a 69传媒Pride t-shirt from the bookstore or you can make your own! Wear a 69传媒shirt or hat and add a little Pride colour! Additionally, the Student Union will be handing out bucket hats, flags, fans, and stickers.

The deadline for Fall 2023 Tuition Waivers is August 18, 2023. We encourage you to have tuition waivers submitted as soon as possible to assist in the timely processing. Tuition waiver forms must be submitted electronically.

Join your fellow colleagues for the third annual 69传媒Plant Pals Plant Swap on Thursday, July 20, from noon to 1:00 pm in the quad in front of Dalton Hall. Trade plants and trimmings with other staff and faculty; finally repot that office plant outgrowing its container; or offer up slips/cuttings to folks looking to spruce up their office spaces!
Please bring what supplies you can, and, even better, if you have enough to share. Let's take care of our office greenery while enjoying a little visit with our coworkers! 馃尡

Following the first general community town hall held in June, Interim President Keefe committed to further sessions with individual stakeholder groups.
The next forum is for active 69传媒staff only (union and non-unionized) on Wednesday, July 19, at 1:00 pm in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium in Don and Marion McDougall Hall (MCDH 242). The Staff Forum will also be available via Zoom. If you are a 69传媒staff member and unable to participate in person, please email communications@upei.ca to receive the Zoom link.
Additional smaller group sessions for Faculties and administrative units will be held throughout July and August. Sessions for students, alumni, and retired employees will be held in August and September.

With the recent release of the Rubin Thomlinson report, the University has coordinated two new confidential processes to support faculty and staff who have experienced harm from harassment, sexual violence, or discrimination at UPEI.
Confidential personal counselling
The 69传媒Health and Wellness Centre has engaged a psychologist, who is bilingual (English and French), to meet individually with faculty and staff Tuesday and Wednesday mornings throughout the summer.
Employees may email Caylin Jenkins at cbjenkins@upei.ca, indicating 鈥淎ppointment required鈥� in the subject line. Caylin will coordinate their appointment with the psychologist and confirm the location of the appointment.
Making a confidential disclosure
People have asked about the process for making disclosures of incidents of harassment or discrimination by senior executive members of the University. The University has established an independent third-party process to address any such issues with Resonance Inc., a multidisciplinary human resources firm, based in Saint John, NB, that specializes in workplace assessments. The 69传媒English Language Centre is looking for families to host high school students from Japan who are visiting 69传媒for two weeks in August. If you are interested in hosting, please contact homestay@upei.ca for further details.
Daniel Cousins, a third-year 69传媒student in the Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture program, is planning PEI鈥檚 first TEDx event, tentatively set for October 13, 2023, and is looking for ideas from faculty, students, and alumni.
69传媒faculty, students, alumni, and community members can pitch their idea for a talk by submitting a before midnight (11:59 pm), July 17, 2023. Interviews will be conducted as applications come in to determine the successful talk idea.
As TEDx events are regional, speakers must be current residents of Prince Edward Island (Island born, 鈥渃ome from away,鈥� or on the Island to study) so that voices of those who live on the Island can be showcased. TED talks are 18 minutes and can cover a wide variety of topics, but must fall within four strict rules. Read the article to learn more about the guidelines.
