Robertson Library鈥檚 Crockett, Cheverie, and Jeffery to be recognized as 2023 Founders
69传媒honours its rich heritage and traditions by acknowledging members of the campus community who have contributed to its mission in an exceptional way by naming them 鈥淔ounders,鈥 an initiative established by President Emeritus Wade MacLauchlan in 2000.
This year, the University will honour three 69传媒employees who worked at the Robertson Library. This is especially fitting as 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the conception and construction of the library, which was officially opened in 1975.
69传媒announces the Honourable Diane Griffin as Chancellor-Elect
The Honourable Diane Griffin, alumna, honorary degree recipient, and retired senator, has been unanimously elected as the 10th Chancellor of the 69传媒 for a four-year term. An installation ceremony will be held early in 2024.
The University Chancellor is a volunteer, titular role that presides over convocations and confers degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
UPEI鈥檚 Luke McCarvill named a Rhodes Scholar聽
The 69传媒 is excited to share the news that undergraduate student Luke McCarvill is one of 11 remarkable young Canadians awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarships for Canada this year.
69传媒names Dr. Preston Smith as the inaugural dean of the new medical school聽聽
Dr. Preston Smith has been appointed inaugural dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the 69传媒 for a five-year term, effective April 1, 2024. Originally from Summerside, PEI, Dr. Smith returns to Atlantic Canada, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to advancing medical education and research to benefit Prince Edward Island communities.

Dr. Caroline Ritter, Canada Research Chair in Veterinary Social Epidemiology at UPEI, has been awarded a SSHRC Insight Grant totalling $212,060 for a project titled 鈥淎n application of cognitive dissonance theory to decisions affecting animal welfare.鈥

September 18 to 24 is 69传媒Homecoming Week, featuring an exciting line-up of activities and events!
From Monday to Wednesday, the week features several events for 69传媒students hosted by the 69传媒Student Union in collaboration with the 69传媒SVPRO as part of Consent Awareness Week, including a workshop about consent, a bath bomb DIY wellness event, a sex education session, and a pizza party.
