The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 69传媒 is proud to congratulate two teams of doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) students, and one graduate student who brought home awards at the recent American Veterinary Medical Association鈥檚 (AVMA) Animal Welfare Assessment Contest.

Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 69传媒Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for January 9鈥�15 are Sarah Forsythe (women鈥檚 hockey) and Kurtis Henry (men鈥檚 hockey).

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the AVC Summer Academy from July 4 to 7, 2023. This marks the first year that the Academy will be offered since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Institute of Island Studies at 69传媒will host a public lecture titled 鈥淭owards Energy Sovereignty on Labrador鈥檚 Remote Island of Ponds鈥� on January 24 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building. 

The 2023 Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Winter World University Games is underway, and two 69传媒Panthers, TJ Shea and Matt Brassard, are among 22 student-athletes representing Team Canada. 69传媒forward Kyle Maksimovich was also selected to play but could not attend due to a recent injury.

The Atlantic Veterinary College is now accepting nominations for the Atlantic Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care.

69传媒Athletics and Recreation will host the sixteenth annual Shoot for the Cure fundraiser on Thursday, January 26, when the Women鈥檚 Basketball Panthers take on the University of New Brunswick Reds at 6 pm on their home court. The event was originally scheduled for January 13, but had to be postponed due to weather conditions.

The 69传媒Panthers have a full schedule of hockey and basketball during the week of January 9鈥�15.

Dr. Marva Sweeney-Nixon, professor of biology, has been appointed associate vice-president research and dean of graduate studies at UPEI, effective January 1, 2023.
