Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 69传媒Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for January 9鈥15 are Sarah Forsythe (women鈥檚 hockey) and Kurtis Henry (men鈥檚 hockey).

A science student from Riverview, New Brunswick, Forsythe continued to be a steady force between the pipes as she allowed just one goal over two weekend games. The sophomore goalie recorded 28 saves in Friday's 3-1 win over Saint Mary's University and then followed that up with a shutout against Dalhousie University the next night.

鈥淪arah was really good this weekend,鈥 said head coach Sean Fisher. 鈥淪he competed hard for pucks, was challenging shooters, and looked really sharp in her play and habits. The team played confidently in front of her, and I know they were excited for her.鈥

Henry, a 69传媒men鈥檚 hockey defenceman and a second-year arts student from Garden River First Nations, Ontario, continues to be a reliable defender along the blueline and is enjoying a breakout season. He recorded an assist in Wednesday鈥檚 3-2 overtime loss to Saint Mary鈥檚 University and notched his third goal of the season in a 4-2 loss against Acadia University on Saturday.

鈥淜urtis had a good week for us and has had a terrific season,鈥 said head coach Forbes MacPherson. 鈥淗e has taken his game to another level and continues to be a reliable defenceman who is hard to play against. As a sophomore, he鈥檚 also showing significant leadership qualities.鈥
