Ana Gradil, Department of Pathology and Microbiology will give a seminar entitled "Temperature effects on immunological development and responsiveness in juvenile shortnose sturgeon (Acipenser brevirostrum)" and Heather Wotton, Department of Pathology and Microbiology will give a seminar entitled "Development of an in vitro method of testing an anti-attachment factor on Lepeophtheirus salmonis" on Tuesday, April 2 at 1:30 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre "C". The pharmacist will provide an overview of statistics around common chronic health conditions for women, provide information on hormones and your health, prevention and screening, nutrition, physical activity, and caring for your family鈥檚 health needs. 鈥淭his Shining Night鈥�, the spring choral presentation by UPEI's Concert Choir, takes place in Steel Recital Hall on Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 pm. The audience will be treated to performances by the concert choir, under interim director Pamela Campbell and special guests the Summerside Community Choir and Montague Regional High School Choir. Summerside conductor Mark Ramsay and Montague conductor Christie Beck are both alumni of the 69传媒music department. As well as directing their own choirs' performances, Ramsay and Beck will guest-conduct the 69传媒choir in Morten Lauridsen's 鈥淪ure on This Shining Night鈥� and Leonard Bernstein's 鈥淪omewhere鈥�, respectively. Also, appearing as guest conductor of 鈥淭omorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day鈥� will be alumnus Michael van der Gaag. A student conductor from the music department's choral techniques class will conduct the university choir in Eric Whitacre's 鈥淭he Seal Lullaby.鈥� Collaborative pianist for the evening is Jeremy Gallant. President Abd-El-Aziz and members of the Budget Committee will hold a Town Hall in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons at the AVC on Wednesday, March 27, 11:30 am鈥�1:00 pm to present preliminary budget numbers and share strategic planning to date. After considering feedback from colleagues, and receiving confirmation of the provincial operating grant, the Budget Committee will then finalize and present its operating budget to the Finance Committee of the Board and then for consideration to the Board of Governors during the last Board meeting of the academic year鈥擬ay 9, 2013. Once the 2013鈥�2014 budget is approved by the Board, the University will communicate any necessary changes in tuition and fees, and will notify departments on their budget status for the fiscal year. Immigration, refugee, and citizenship policies in Canada have been changing at a fast pace in recent years. Marisa Berry Mendez, of the Canadian Council for Refugees will address new developments in immigration and refugee policy in Canada, making room for a discussion about these important issues which are changing the face of Canadian society. The Institute of Island Studies and Environmental Studies are hosting a noon-hour discussion on Thursday, April 4 for students, staff, and faculty to talk about ongoing concerns around land use on PEI: the quality of our groundwater, the protection of our farmland, and the protection of our coastal areas, to name three concerns. If you live on PEI, your opinion matters. In April the newly formed land-use task force will hold public consultations with Islanders on these issues. This task force wants to speak to the 69传媒community about what they think. So let's talk about land use. Free pizza for lunch.
