Research Services and Graduate Studies is very excited to be offering a Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) during May to August, 2014. Undergraduate students working on a summer research project may register for the program. Students will hear presentations by faculty members, learn more about resources and be exposed to valuable information about careers in research. SPUR is open to 69传媒students following their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year. There is no charge to participate. Deadline to register is Friday, April 11. The 69传媒Wind Symphony performance has been rescheduled for tonight, Friday, March 28 at 7:30 pm in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall.

At the next Research on Tap, join us for a discussion about the bloody history of free blood in Canada. Dr. Sarah Glassford, assistant professor of history at UPEI, will lead a discussion entitled 鈥淏lood: It鈥檚 in you to sell. Why Canadians give and get blood for free.鈥� The discussion begins at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1 at the Pourhouse, above The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse in Charlottetown. In other countries, blood is treated almost as a commodity, where donors are paid, and blood has cash value. Dr. Glassford will present on the debate that led to our free system, and how Canada almost followed the American model. Sound interesting? Join us! The Installation of UPEI's Eighth Chancellor, Dr. Don McDougall, will take place, rain or shine, on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 pm in McMillan Hall at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Should there be inclement weather, the academic procession will gather at 1:20 pm in the Student Centre instead of at Don and Marion McDougall Hall as previously indicated. A notice confirming these details will be posted to UPEI.ca if necessary. All are welcome to attend the ceremony, we hope to see you there!

The 69传媒Student Union and the 69传媒Convocation Committee are looking for a valedictorian for the 2014 morning convocation ceremony. Eligible students are those from the faculties of business, nursing, education, and veterinary medicine. Interested applicants are asked to forward their name, faculty of study, and a summary explaining their interest in being this year鈥檚 valedictorian. Summaries are to be no more than 250 words and word count is to be displayed. Deadline for applications is 4:00 pm, Wednesday, April 2, and students are asked to submit applications to admin@upeisu.ca. Faculty and staff are encouraged to speak to students and inform them of the availability of this position and encourage interested students to apply.

Dr. Jason Clyburne, Department of Chemistry, Saint Mary鈥檚 University will present a seminar on Wednesday, April 2 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Clyburne鈥檚 presentation is entitled 鈥淯nusual Anions in Ion 鈥� Rich Media and Their Implication in Catalysis and in Nature.鈥� The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Room 212.

Emergency First Aid and CPR Training will take place on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 am-3:30 pm in AVC 286A North. The training is covered by the Health and Safety Budget. Workplace Safety Inspections Sessions will take place April 15, 9-11 am and April 16, 1:30-3:30 pm (sessions will cover the same material) Location: Robertson Library room 235 In this seminar, participants will learn ways to prepare, inspect, report and follow up on workplace hazards. The workshop uses group and individual activities involving common hazard scenarios and sample forms to guide you along in your next workplace safety inspection.
