Interested in applying for law school? A professor from UNB Law School will be on the 69传媒campus on Thursday, November 13 in SDU Main Building, room 409 to deliver information about the application process. All students or individuals interested in attending law school are welcome to attend.
Shawn Smith from the CPA Atlantic School of Business will be hosting an information session on campus on Thursday, November 20 from 2:00-4:30 pm and again on November 21 from 9:30 am-12:00 noon. The sessions will take place in the breezeway of the Don and Marion McDougall Hall. All are welcome to attend.
Next in the AVC Community Workshop Series is "Dog Talk: What is your dog saying?" taking place onTuesday, November 18 from 7:00-8:30 pm, in AVC Lecture Theatre A.
People and dogs are excellent observers of body language and both use extensive nonverbal communication. But the two languages are very different and not always understood by each other.
Dr. Anne Marie Carey, Department of Companion Animals, AVC, will discuss the basics of dog language to help communicate effectively with our canine companions. She will present some common situations and interpret them from both the dog's and owner's point of view. Dr. Carey will also provide insight into safe interaction between dogs and children. An International Coffee House will take place on Thursday, November 13 from 5:30-7:30 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The event is hosted by the IRO, Buddy Program, Chinese Knot Club, Japanese Study Society, and the Korean Student Society. Come enjoy the entertainment, with free snacks, drinks, and loads of coffee! Everyone is welcome to attend.
UPEI鈥檚 Department of Student Affairs, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and the PEI Breast Cancer Information Partnership will introduce Breast Health 101 to the 69传媒campus. This will be the first time that Breast Health 101 is offered on a Canadian university campus.
Breast Health 101 will be offered by a pioneer in the development and implementation of the PEI Breast Screening Program on PEI, Norah Smith. Norah is the PEI Provincial Breast Screening Coordinator, represents PEI nationally on a number of boards, and has over 20 years of experience in breast health. 69传媒faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to sign-up for a session.
Sessions will be held on November 13, 14, and 20 from 12:15-1:00 pm in the Student Affairs boardroom. A boxed lunch will be provided for attendees. Sign-up is required, as space is limited to 10-12 participants per session. To sign up, please contact Krystal Mayne at kmayne@upei.ca.

Join 69传媒103 students with their co-curricular project taking place on Wednesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 13, 9:30 am-12:30 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The students are setting up a "Swap for Supplies" yard-sale event to support second-year engineering students who are travelling to Mikinduri, Kenya in February to help support communities alongside the "Children of Hope" organization. Supplies needed include: pens, pencils, flashlights, bandaids, sealed pain medication (tylenol, aspirin, etc), and toothbrushes. Individuals who bring in supplies will have the opportunity to 'swap' their supplies for various gently-used items including books, clothing, decorations, etc. Don't have these supplies? Donations are also greatly appreciated.

In 2012, Canada celebrated the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II鈥檚 accession to the Throne. Support was rallied from government, the private and public sectors to fund an inspiring new scholarship initiative in her honour: the Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships program. This program represents a unique opportunity to activate Canadian students and Canadian universities. With investments made to Canadian universities, this program will facilitate a dynamic community of young global leaders across the Commonwealth to create lasting impacts both at home and abroad through cross-cultural exchanges encompassing international education, discovery and inquiry, and professional experiences.
As part of this new program, Canadian universities are invited to submit multi-year project proposals seeking funding of up to $500,000 for projects of two to four years to support Queen Elizabeth Scholars. Only AUCC member institutions can apply; universities may submit no more than two proposals to the competition. Universities may partner with one or more AUCC members for a joint proposal.
Groups from 69传媒interested in submitting a proposal are asked to please express their intent to Adrienne Montgomery in Scholarships and Awards at amontgomery@upei.ca or (902) 620-5187 by the end of day on Wednesday, November 5.

UPEI's University 100 program presents Anita Acai, 3M National Student Fellow on Friday, November 7 in Andrew Hall, Room 142. Anita will present the following sessions: "The Cult of Busy" from 10:30-11:15 am. During this presentation, Anita will discuss how our society has an unhealthy relationship with being busy and challenges "what are you being busy for?" Anita, a 2013 National Student Fellow, will share engaging and meaningful insights about the ubiquitous "cult of busy" and talk to students, staff, and faculty about where the 3M project is at today.
Anita will also present "3M National Student Fellowship Program, Experiences and Application Process" from 11:30 am-12:00 noon. Anita will lead an informal discussion on the 3M National Student Fellowship program which is sponsored by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). She will discuss her participation in the program and the application process.
