Sunday, November 1 at 7:30 pm the 69传媒Department of Music Recital series presents violinist Joshua Peters, winner of the Eckhardt Gramatte National Music Competition.
The concert in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall on the 69传媒campus starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the door, online at 鈥(available until 3:30 p.m. on November 1) or 鈥媌y calling 鈥(902-566-0507) 鈥媜r emailing 鈥(music@upei.ca). This latter option is available only until 4 p.m. Friday, October 30.

The 69传媒Animal Use and Care Training Course for Tuesday, November 3rd has been postponed. The course will be rescheduled in the new year.

The first Graduate Faculty of Education Research Seminar is fast approaching!           

Three of our graduate students will share and discuss relevant phases of their work:

鈥 Mary MacPhee (PhD Candidate), will explain the rationale of 鈥淐hoosing a PhD Topic of Study;鈥
鈥 Selvi Roy (PhD Candidate), will explain the significance and the main findings of her study, "High School Students' Agentic Engagement Within Project-Based Learning;鈥 and
鈥 Lizzie Yan-Yan (MEd student), will discuss main findings of her research study, 鈥淧ublic Perspectives on Large-scale Assessment in Prince Edward Island.鈥

Russ Kerr, Chemistry Department, 69传媒will present a seminar on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 12:30 pm.  The seminar this week will focus on the MMS Candidacy Exam guidelines and present some tips on how to write a successful grant proposal.  The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Room 212.

Fire Extinguisher Training will be provided by the PEI Firefighters Association on Thursday, November 5  from 2 pm-3:15 pm outside of  the loading dock at the Central Utility Building.  The session will include a short briefing on fire safety which will be followed by each participant using a fire extinguisher to put out a simulated fire.

Please register by contacting Angela Deighan at adeighan@upei.ca and identify what type of space you work in. Space is limited, therefore for this session, priority will be given to those who work in higher risk areas such as labs, workshops, etc.

Please note that the Board of Governors has approved new versions of five (5) existing policies as well as one (1) new policy.  These polices, along with related procedural guidelines, can be found on the 69传媒Board of Governors Policy and Procedures website.

There will be a service in memory of our Ralph Manning on Tuesday, October 27 at 4:00 pm. The service will be held in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre鈥檚 gymnasium and led by Campus Minister Sister Sue Kidd.

As part of the service, there will be an informal opportunity to share stories about Ralph. All are welcome to attend.

If you have ever thought "I have no idea what refugees are going through" or "there isn't anything I can do to help", then please join the 69传媒WUSC Local Committee on October 28 between 10am and 3pm in the 69传媒Student Center.

The Mock Refugee Camp(us) will involve discussions and examples of refugee living conditions and rations. Some special guests will be present to answer questions, and there will also be interactive information booths, refugee profiles with personal stories, and an opportunity to play the UNHCR鈥檚 refugee simulation Against All Odds. Come, and bring your curiosity, your concerns, your questions, and your friends. All 69传媒students, staff, and Island community members are invited!

WUSC (World University Service of Canada) Committees all over the country have sponsored over 1500 students from refugee camps and that number continues to increase.

Every Tuesday evening from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm at the CARI pool, we'll have water polo. It's a fun sport that only requires a swimming cap and basic swimming skills (no previous water polo experience needed).   It's FREE for 69传媒students and for non-students $4.50 per night.
