Sam Sweet and Leon Liang, MSc students will each present a seminar on  Wednesday, March 09, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Sam's presentation is entitled 鈥淭he Development and Optimization of Fluorescence-Based Trace Analysis Methods for Agrichemicals in PEI Waters鈥 and Leon's presentation is entitled 鈥淣atural Product Discovery through Bacterial Chemical Communication鈥. The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Room 212.

Yoga (12:05 pm-12:50 pm, Chaplaincy Centre) Bring along your mat and water bottle and join Lyndsey Paynter for a relaxing hour of yoga. This session provides a full body strength and flexibility workout which tones the body. Long stretches will melt away stress and create a feeling of deep relaxation. 

Blast from Vet School Past: infallible wisdom from those who have survived it (12:30 pm-1:30 pm, AVC 278)
This is an opportunity for AVC and Pre-Vet students to connect with professors on a more personal level as they reminisce about challenges in vet school and the people who helped them throughout the program.

Come join UPEI's Psychology Society in the watching of the Hollywood movie Silver Linings Playbook, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert DiNero, with a short discussion afterwards! Snacks will be provided. Please bring comfy clothes and friends.

The School of Nursing would like to invite the University community to a research presentation which will be given by Prof. Patrice Drake, BSc, RN, MN, candidate for a tenure track position in Nursing.  Prof. Patrice Drake will present "Coming together:  Discovering the narrative of nurses providing care for women experiencing miscarriage".  The presentation will take place on Friday, March 11 from 1:40-2:20 in Room 213, Main Building.          

Respiratory Fit Testing is required annually for anyone who uses a respirator in order to ensure a proper fit. Please book a 30-minute time slot through Angela Deighan in Research Services for both sessions, either by email at adeighan@upei.ca or by phone (902) 628-4308.

Individuals must take their respirator or purchase one for the fit testing. As per the CSA Standard, faces must be clean shaven in order to have a respiratory fit test. Please note that fit testing and respiratory supplies are departmental costs.

The 69传媒community is invited to come celebrate with us as we kick off the 2016 69传媒Mental Health Week. We'll announce new student scholarships and feature our guest speaker, men鈥檚 soccer coach, Lewis Page. Encouraged by the overwhelming positive support after sharing his story with the Bell Let鈥檚 Talk campaign, Lewis will continue to share his story with us, focusing on the relationships that have mattered most in his life. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

How to Help a Friend (7:00pm - 8:00pm Campus Life Lounge, Student Affairs, 2nd fl MSC)
Have you ever worried about a friend and wondered how you could be of help to them? This session will explore how you can help your friend, while taking care of yourself too. Refreshments and snacks will be provided by PASS.

Janet MacIntyre will defend her PhD dissertation Thursday, March 10 at 11:30am.  It will take place in AVC 286C N.  Her dissertation is entitled 鈥淣ewly-Graduated Baccalaureate Registered Nurses, the 21st Century Health Care Environment and Mapping the Landscape for Curricular Change鈥  All are welcome to attend.

The School of Nursing would like to invite the University community to a research presentation which will be given by Lisa Garland Baird RN MN PhD(c), candidate for a tenure track position in Nursing. Ms. Garland Baird will present "Home Care Case Managers' Integrated Care of Older Adults with Multiple Chronic Conditions: An Institutional Ethnography". The presentation will take place on Friday, March 4 from 1:40-2:20 pm in Room 213, SDU Main Building.

Robertson Library and the 69传媒English Society will be holding a used book sale on Friday, March 4, noon - 6 pm and Saturday, March 5, 10 am - 3 pm in Room 302/303 (Upper Level) of the Robertson Library. 

Proceeds from the book sale help support the 69传媒English Society and the Library's collection.

Tickets will be available for a chance to win signed copies of works by local 69传媒authors: Deirdre Kessler, Richard Lemm, Brent MacLaine, and Shannon Murray. Money raised from the draw will go to the PEI Literacy Alliance.

Open Class Day is designed for prospective students to experience a variety of classes offered at UPEI, tour facilities, access on-site admission, and receive support with registration for September. The day includes a Welcome Session at the Steel Recital Hall where students can pick up Welcome Packages as well as lunch at the Wanda Wyatt Dining Hall. Students at 69传媒will attempt to gather 1,000 signatures this Friday, recording people鈥檚 commitment to the . The pledge asks that we use respectful, people-first language that eliminates the word 鈥渞etard/retarded鈥 from our everyday language.

The R-Word Pledge day is organized by the Applied Human Sciences student society, the Nursing society, and the Best Buddies 69传媒chapter. partners students with and without intellectual abilities for one year. Buddies talk, hang out, and build friendship! There are Best Buddies chapters at schools in more than 50 schools around North America.

Look for students with pledge sheets across campus this Friday, March 4, and take the R-Word Pledge!

In recognition of the outstanding performance and dedication of our faculty and staff, a number of annual awards have been created to acknowledge their efforts and achievements. 

Up to 10 Presidential Awards of Merit for 69传媒Faculty, Librarians and Clinical Veterinary Professionals and four Presidential Awards of Merit for 69传媒Staff will be awarded in 2016. These awards will be presented during a Celebration of Colleagues to be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. 

Susan Connolly, Associate Vice President Human Resources & Legal, will lead the process and chair the committee to select award recipients.
