On Giving Tuesday, November 29, the AVC Wildlife Service will hold a fundraising event at the Atlantic Veterinary College from 9 am to 3 pm next to the cafeteria. There will be a bake sale, a silent auction, and a raffle with prizes. All proceeds will go toward continuous care for a bald eagle currently in the care of the service and for the construction of an enclosure for it at Hope for Wildlife.
After being hit by a car, the eagle was paralyzed and had ground-breaking spinal surgery at AVC in November 2021. The surgery was successful, and the eagle can now perch and fly short distances. Permanent wing injuries impede the eagle from flying long distances, and therefore it cannot be released into the wild. It will find a home at Hope for Wildlife.
In addition, 69传媒has selected the AVC Wildlife Service as the recipient of donations for Giving Tuesday this year. The AVC Wildlife Service provides care Island-wide to injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife.
The Charlottetown Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, beginning on University Avenue at Enman Crescent at 5:00 pm. As a result, there will be traffic restrictions at the 69传媒University Avenue entrance, as the staging of the parade walking groups will take place on campus in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre parking lot.
To ensure the safety of parade participants and members of the campus community, the University Avenue entrance will be closed between the hours of 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm. The entrance on Belvedere Avenue will remain open. Please be aware of increased traffic on campus.
The excitement for this Saturday's Gold Rush draw is growing as big as the pot! With no winners in the last six draws, the total pot has grown to more than $8,500, with half going to the winner of Saturday night's draw.

This is an introductory workshop to research data management for Humanists and Social Scientists. The Tri-Agencies, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), require that researchers make their data openly available to the public. What does this mean for Humanists and Social Scientists that don鈥檛 work with traditional 鈥渄ata鈥� and instead work with humans, books, or art? The session will focus on the importance of data management planning. Specifically, we will cover the tools and services available to Atlantic Canadian researchers that can help you better manage your data, enhance the discoverability of your research, and ensure that your valuable research data are preserved for future reuse. Special attention will also be given to managing sensitive data, including FRDR鈥檚 Sensitive Data Pilot Project. This session will be co-facilitated by a data librarian to foster a discussion of the role of research data management in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Academic Instructional Skills Program is looking for participants to take part in one of its courses. The course focuses on facilitating class discussions, group work, and student-to-student interactions. We need participants who are interested to sign up for one or both of the course's synchronous workshops. Once we have a critical mass, we can organize a date for the delivery of each workshop. The focus of these workshops is to provide participants with the opportunity to practice their delivery in facilitating discussion, group work and peer-to-peer interaction in an online or an in-person teaching environment. Interested participants can sign up for one or both workshops. There is also an online asynchronous component to the course that must be completed prior to the synchronous workshops.

The 69传媒Arts Review (Vol. XII) is now accepting visual artwork and written submissions! The Arts Review offers students from all faculties the opportunity to have their work published during their time at UPEI. Our goal is to see excellent student work strengthened, published, and celebrated.
We accept any form of writing including academic essays, poems, short stories, science papers, scripts, etc., and any form of visual artwork including photography, drawings, paintings, digital art, sketches, etc. Multiple submissions are allowed. The deadline to submit is December 21, 2022. Please send all submissions to artsreview@upei.ca with a 200-word abstract to introduce your piece.

Overview: This course will review the basics of dealing with difficult people. Everyone is different, and so are their personalities, so this course will help participants deal with those different personality types in difficult situations. Topics and material on the subject will be reviewed, and then chances to practically apply the knowledge will take place through some role-playing on how to diffuse difficult situations and remain calm. The 69传媒Department of Music will present several recitals throughout the months of November and December, with performances featuring 69传媒music students, alumni, and community members.
On November 24, the 69传媒Jazz Ensemble will perform an eclectic program featuring jazz standards and modern compositions alike. Under the direction of David Shephard, the concert will feature works by jazz greats Pat Metheny, Wayne Shorter, Benny Goodman, and Quincy Jones.
The members of the 69传媒Wind Symphony are excited to return to performing live for the first time in a year, with a program of works by British composers. Featured works for this December 1st recital include Philip Sparke's playful and expressive 鈥淗anover Festival,鈥� Ralph Vaughan William's iconic 鈥淔olk Song Suite鈥� (including the original 4th movement, 鈥淪ea Songs鈥�), a set of three musical 鈥淧ortraits of the North鈥� by British Canadian composer Robert Buckley, and the first movement of Edward Gregson's 鈥淭uba Concerto,鈥� featuring music student Olive MacPhail as soloist.
Under the direction of Natalie Williams Calhoun, the 69传媒String Orchestra will perform a recital on December 2. The program will feature composers Bloch, Vivaldi, Bartok, among others. Laura Ono, piano, will be featured as a soloist for this recital.
On Friday, December 9, the 69传媒Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Womens鈥� Vocal Ensemble, and Music Alumni, under the musical direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey and assisted by pianist Leo Marchildon, will present an eclectic mixture of choral music and Christmas repertoire. Included in the program are Handel鈥檚 鈥淭he King Shall Rejoice,鈥� 鈥淐andlelight Carol鈥� by John Rutter, and Gjeilo鈥檚 鈥淥 Magnum Mysterium鈥� for mixed chorus and cello solo, featuring Natalie Williams Calhoun, among many other choral gems.
Tickets to all the aforementioned recitals are $20 for adults and $10 for students, and will be available for purchase with cash at the door of the event. All recitals will take place at 7:30 pm at Dr. Steel Recital Hall at UPEI.

SoTL Canada is delighted to invite the SoTL community to our "Ethics & SoTL" roadshow with Dr. Lisa Fedoruk on November 25 at 1:00 pm Atlantic.
