Posting Date(s)

The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), is held annually on November 20, honouring transgender people who have lost their lives in acts of anti-transgender violence.

On PEI, the week leading up to TDOR, November 13鈥20, serves to raise awareness of/increase visibility of transgender issues, particularly intimate partner violence. Transgender Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by educating the public about who transgender people are, sharing stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy around issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affect the transgender community.

Today, on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, the PEI Transgender Network, Native Council of PEI, and PEERS Alliance will hold the 鈥渞eading of the roll鈥 at 6 pm at the PEERS Alliance Charlottetown office, 250 B Queen Street, to honour those who have lost their lives.

69传媒will observe the day by flying the transgender flag at the flag plaza in front of Kelley Memorial Building and lowering all flags on campus to half-mast.
