The 69传媒 community is saddened to learn of the passing of 69传媒honorary degree recipient, Keptin John Joe Sark.
John Joe Sark was the first Island Mi鈥檏maw graduate of 69传媒in 1979 and was awarded an honorary degree in 2005. A Keptin of the Mi鈥檏maq Grand Council, Dr. Sark was one of the foremost authorities on the Mi'kmaq, leading the way in speaking out against racist attitudes and promoting respect among cultures.
The University extends its condolences to the family and friends of Keptin John Joe Sark, LLD. The flags near Kelley Memorial Building will be lowered to half-mast in his memory.
