The Department of Biology at the 69´«Ã½ invites applications from individuals who are interested in instructing laboratories in the following Biology courses in the 2024-2025 Academic Year.  All qualified candidates are welcome to apply; however, priority will be given to students enrolled in a 69´«Ã½Graduate program.

 

Fall Courses:

Introductory Microbiology for Health Sciences (Bio 1060) Human Anatomy (Bio 1210)/Human Anatomy & Histology (Bio 2260), Genes, Cells and Macromolecules (Bio 1310), Zoology (Bio 2040), Ecology (Bio 2220), Plants and People (Bio 3110), Research Methods and Communications in Biology (Bio 3310), Intro Physiology of Cells and Organisms (Bio 3260), Marine Biology (Bio 3910), Plant Animal Interactions (Bio 4660). 

 

Winter Courses:

Human Physiology (Bio 1220), Organisms & Their Environment (Bio 1320), Botany (Bio 2020), Microbiology (Bio 2060), Genetics I (Bio 2230)/Human Genetics (Bio 2240), Molecular Biology Research Techniques (Bio 3520), Human Physiology and Pathophysiology (Bio 4010), Comparative Environmental Vertebrate Physiology (Bio 4020), Environmental Toxicology (Bio 4850)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Duties include: 

  • Instructing and leading labs and/or tutorials, and marking exams and assignments
  • Proctoring in-lab quizzes and tests
  • Aiding with lab set up and tear down as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the course instructor or laboratory coordinator

 

The successful applicants will be required to participate on a weekly basis for their scheduled laboratory duties for the duration of the Fall and/or winter semesters

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Applicants must:

  • Be a 69´«Ã½graduate student in good standing
  • Have completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology or a similar program that required a course with laboratory that is equivalent to the lab they want to instruct.
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) trained or be willing to take the training

This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the 69´«Ã½. Priority will be given to 69´«Ã½ students.
