The 69´«Ã½, Facilities Management Department, is seeking applicants for the position of Maintenance Repair – Building Systems. This position requires an individual with formal training and demonstrated experience and skills related to maintenance and renovations of buildings/equipment/grounds on all University owned assets. Employees in this class perform skilled labour duties in the maintenance, renovation, and repair of buildings and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trouble shootings, maintains and repairs all ventilation and related systems and equipment such as air handling units, exhaust fans, building controls, heat exchangers, heating/cooling systems, refrigeration systems, humidification systems, sprinkler systems, compressed air systems, steam systems, and medical gas systems. 
  • Carries out heating, ventilation and air condition related projects such as installing heat pump systems, preparing material lists for such projects and carries out installation in accordance with local, provincial, and federal codes and regulations. 
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs all controls/instrumentation on the building equipment and systems within campus.
  • Carries out minor repairs or initial investigation work as it relates to carpentry, millwright, welding, groundwork, electrical, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and reset fire alarm and security systems. 
  • Requisition for material, supplies and tools relating to proposed or actual work being performed and inventory. 
  • Such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education level with diploma
  • Diploma or Certificate or Journeyman/License in Electromechanical Technology, Building Instrumentation Controls, Building Systems Engineering, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) or Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Preference will be given to a Red Seal certification in the above-mentioned fields. 
  • Preference will be given to those with some experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
  • Preference will be given to those with an education/healthcare setting experience. 
  • Computer software experience 
  • Valid driver’s license, a Criminal Record Check and may be required to obtain a Federal Government security clearance.
