Reporting directly to the Manager of UGME, the successful applicant is a crucial member of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) team. They ensure that clinical teaching spaces are secured through regular communication and coordination with staff in the Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre (CLSC) and independently coordinate with students regarding all queries related to UGME clinical skills, including the attainment, updating and timely posting of online course information. They facilitate open communication between students and faculty related to UGME clinical skills and independently coordinate with faculty ensure that required evaluations processes and protocols are followed for all UGME clinical skills courses. They set up and lead the facilitation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations. They independently ensure the maintenance of all grades related to UGME clinical skills using various databases which can have a significant impact on student promotion. They participate in various committees both locally and nationally related to clinical skills and performing other related duties as required. The successful applicant will build and foster relationships with Memorial University (Memorial) Faculty of Medicine UGME administration and faculty leadership and play a key role in ensuring that all clinical skills processes meet the accreditation guidelines and support faculty in completing required data collection instruments for the accreditors of medical education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the collection and delivery of accurate session-specific course documents for faculty, community-based facilitators, and students

  • Coordinates with faculty to execute and facilitate the evaluation for all UGME clinical skills courses to accreditation standards

  • Independently coordinates all grades as they relate to UGME clinical skills using various databases

  • Independently develops solutions to issues arising in the dynamic educational environment

  • Independently sets up and leads the flow of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations

  • Works in collaboration Memorial鈥檚 Manager of Curriculum and Accreditation to ensure that the clinical skills program at the 69传媒Campus meets accreditation standards

  • Regularly examine best practice guidelines and innovations for clinical skills training to help ensure alignment with course learning objectives, program outcomes, and accreditation standards       

  • Supports the 69传媒Faculty of Medicine in completing required data collection instruments for the accreditors of medical education

  • Liaises with students regarding all queries related to UGME clinical skills curriculum, including maintaining online course information

  • Facilitates communication between students and faculty related to UGME clinical skills

  • Collaborates with staff of the CLSC to ensure that clinical learning spaces are ready and available for learners

  • Participates in various committees, both locally and nationally, related to clinical skills

  • Collaborates with Memorial鈥檚 UGME administration and faculty to ensure the alignment of 69传媒 (UPEI) and Memorial鈥檚 policies with national and international standards and to enhance the MD program and resources to support its delivery

  • Collaborates with stakeholders at the local, provincial, national, and international levels to ensure the alignment of 69传媒 (UPEI) policies with national and international standards and to enhance the MD program and resources to support its delivery

  • Performs other duties as required to ensure the effective delivery of Memorial鈥檚 accredited UGME curriculum on the 69传媒Campus

  • Other duties as required 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree (minimum four years) with at least five years related work experience

  • Experience within a post-secondary institution or a health authority would be considered an asset

  • This role requires a high degree of coordination with the academic support units within the Faculty of Medicine, including Health Sciences Information and Media Service (HSIMS), Clinical Learning and Simulation Centre (CLSC), and Clinical Faculty. As a result, the incumbent must demonstrate successful negotiation and conflict management skills

  • Superior interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills are required

  • To excel in the position, it would be essential to possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, effective leadership and strategic thinking abilities, and a solid attention to detail

  • The successful candidate will be thorough, collegial, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate commitment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, is required

  • Knowledge of Desire2Learn (Brightspace) and One45 software programs would be considered assets
