The Faculty of Nursing is seeking applicants for a student simulation assistant position. This position reports to the Simulation Coordinator and Simulation Lead and will assist Clinical Nursing Instructors in the Learning Resource Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizing supplies and equipment
  • Setting up equipment for specific simulations
  • Returning equipment to the storage area following simulation
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Managing inventory of supplies including tracking and recording
  • Literature searches, photocopying, and filing
  • Tutoring students, assisting students with resources. 
  • Some lifting at times (assisting with transferring manikins and moving other pieces of equipment)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in the second year of the undergraduate nursing program
  • Ability to work flexible hours. Hours will vary depending on program demands in the Learning Resource Centre (day and evening shifts)
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability, initiative, excellent organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to accurately follow instructions and attention to detail are essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology and software such as Microsoft 365 suite or equivalent programs is required
