Acknowledging that 69´«Ã½is located on the unceded land of the Mi’kmaq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk, the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) at the 69´«Ã½ (UPEI) welcomes applications from dynamic and motivated youths to support the development and implementation of community engagement and outreach activities a s part of the FSDE’s Engineering Success Centre (ESC). This position reports to the Coordinator of the ESC. The ESC is seeking applications for Student Assistant(s) up to 8h/week for the Fall 2024 semester with a possibility for extension to Winter 2025 semester.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Assistants will support the ESC with:

  • Hold Centre shift hours to support in-person and/or online to FSDE students, including works with technicians in various fabrication and assembly shops
  • Operate paper and 3D printing services to FSDE students
  • Assist the instructors, teaching assistants with study support sessions
  • Support design marketing campaign and promote activities to FSDE students
  • Develop and organize initiatives improving students’ wellness, networking skills, professional development skills, learning tips
  • Develop and implement engagement activities, projects including travel to institutions, communities on PEI.
  • Provide guided building tours to interested members of the campus and general public

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate students in degree programs at the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with 3D design and printing is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a Student Marker, Assistant, Ambassador is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous cultures and languages is an asset.

Priority will be given to 69´«Ã½ students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
