World Environment Day

 on June 5 is one of the biggest international days for the environment. Led by the  (UNEP) and held annually since 1974, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet. More than 150 countries are expected to participate in this year鈥檚 World Environment Day, while millions are likely to engage through in-person and online activities. Hosted by C么te d鈥橧voire and supported by the Netherlands, this year鈥檚 theme focuses on solutions to plastic pollution.

69传媒is partnering with the Government of PEI's Office of Net Zero to host Stingray Radio programming about World Environment Day from 10 am to 2 pm at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter's Bay.

The Honourable Steven Myers, PEI鈥檚 Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Action and Sean Casey, Member of Parliament for Charlottetown, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources Canada will also be in attendance鈥攁long with representatives from PEI鈥檚 Forests, Fish and Wildlife division, UPEI, and the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation鈥攁t a special announcement at 11 am related to the 2 Billion Trees Program.
