National Indigenous Peoples Day

During National Indigenous History Month, June 21鈥攖he summer solstice鈥攊s designated as , 鈥渁 day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis peoples.鈥 (). 

To mark National Indigenous Peoples Day, 69传媒will raise the Mi鈥檏maq flag on one of the flagpoles located near the Kelley Building. The Mi鈥檏maq flag flies permanently on a flagpole at 69传媒Alumni Canada Games Place.

The Native Council of PEI will host its at Confederation Landing in Charlottetown on June 21, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Highlights of the event include cultural performances, drumming, dancing, youth games, and prizes, as well as a free barbeque, bannock, and cake at lunch.
