Dr. Aitazaz Farooque, interim associate dean of the 69传媒School of Climate Change and Adaptation recently attended the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC), 鈥淐OP27.鈥 It was the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference, held from November to 18, 2022, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Against the backdrop of St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, the Honourable Bill Blair, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, and the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay launched the National Adaptation Strategy at UPEI鈥檚 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation on November 24.

For many at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 69传媒 (UPEI), it is bittersweet news that bald eagle 450 (450) is ready to be transferred to his new home at Hope for Wildlife.

69传媒celebrated the MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Friday, November 18. This was the 11th year for the awards, but the 9th for an in-person celebration and the first one since 2019. The awards were presented to recipients, acknowledging their effective writing skills - a foundational skill for academic success and lifelong learning.

Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 69传媒Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 14鈥20 are Lauren Rainford (women鈥檚 basketball) and Lucas Fitzpatrick (men鈥檚 hockey).

The 69传媒Faculty of Education officially launched an Island-wide literacy and numeracy outreach project on Friday, November 18, 2022. The project is supported by a generous donation of $750,000 from Master Packaging.

As we approach the holiday season, there are several common causes for end-of-year pet emergencies. As a pet owner, it can be very scary when your animal is sick or appears to be in crisis. This fear can be compounded if you鈥檙e away from home and your regular veterinarian, or if you鈥檙e hosting visitors and experiencing common holiday stressors.

In August, Dr. Dennis Makau (PhD 鈥19) was honoured with the prestigious Wayne Martin International Symposium for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics (ISVEE) Emerging Scientist Award at the sixteenth international symposium.

Dr. Stacey MacKinnon, associate professor of psychology at UPEI, and co-author Dr. Beth Archer-Kuhn, associate professor of social work, University of Calgary, have published a new book, Reigniting Curiosity and Inquiry in Higher Education: A Realist鈥檚 Guide to Getting Started.
