2023 Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament takes place September 29 to October 1

The 69传媒men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams are ready to roll at the annual Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament! The tournament features nine teams from across Canada and runs Friday, September 29, through Sunday, October 1.

The women鈥檚 pool includes Acadia University, University of Saskatchewan, University of Waterloo, and UPEI. The men鈥檚 pool includes Dalhousie University, York University, Saint Mary鈥檚 University, Holland College, and UPEI.

The tournament is named after John Thomas 鈥淢ickey鈥 Place, a long-time friend of Panther Sport, a former 69传媒Student Union employee, and a 69传媒honorary degree recipient.

鈥淯 SPORTS Basketball fans will not want to miss this weekend鈥檚 Mickey Place Tournament,鈥 said Darrell Glenn, coach of the 69传媒Men鈥檚 Basketball team. 鈥淪ome of the top players from men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 teams across the country will compete in our gym, and that鈥檚 an opportunity that you don鈥檛 get every day.鈥

All games will be played in the 69传媒Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The full tournament schedule can be found at . Tickets are $20 for a day pass, $10 for non-69传媒students, and free for 69传媒students. An adult tournament pass is $50, $20 for non-69传媒students (season ticket holders get 50% off on the tournament pass). Tickets can be purchased online at panthertickets.ca or in person at game time.

In other Panther action this weekend, the 69传媒women's and men's soccer teams play in Sydney against the Cape Breton Capers on Friday, September 29, and in Antigonish on September 30 when they take on the St. Francis Xavier squads.

The 69传媒Men's Hockey team will face Acadia in Wolfville on Friday, September 29 and Dalhousie in Halifax on Saturday, September 30 in pre-season play. Also in pre-season action, the 69传媒Women's Hockey team will take on Universit茅 de Moncton in Memramcook, NB on Saturday, September 30 and will return home to host Mount Allison at home on Sunday, October 1 at 12:00 pm at MacLauchlan Arena.  

The 69传媒Women's Rugby Panthers will square off against the Saint Mary Huskies on MacAdam Field on Sunday afternoon, October 1, at 2:00 pm.
