UPEI鈥檚 Karem Simon to conduct PEI Symphony Orchestra on March 5

Dr. Karem Simon, professor of music at UPEI, has been invited to serve as guest conductor of the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra in its Goodnight Moon program on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 2:30 pm, in the Sobey Family Theatre, Confederation Centre of the Arts.

Among the distinctions of Dr. Simon鈥檚 career has been his work conducting the 69传媒Wind Symphony, which, under his direction, has produced 22 albums and has been acclaimed for its innovative programming and performance standard.

Goodnight Moon is a program of chamber orchestra works featuring Beethoven鈥檚 dramatic 鈥淓gmont Overture,鈥 a Canadian gem by Claude Champagne titled Danse Villageoise,鈥 and Georges Bizet鈥檚 elegant Symphony No. 1. Complementing this program is a variety of opera arias and art songs showcasing two of PEI鈥檚 finest mezzo sopranos, Gillian Clow and Hannah O鈥橠onnell. Both are 69传媒music alumni who studied with Professor Sung-ha Shin Bouey.
