Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation to host open house
UPEI鈥檚 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay will host a public Open House on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Members of the public are invited to tour the 45,000-square-foot facility, which houses the 69传媒School of Climate Change and Adaptation, the 69传媒Climate Lab, and state-of-the-art research centres of excellence, including the Centre of Excellence in Food Security and Sustainability.
Guest presenters from industry, First Nations, provincial government, NGOs, and academia will address climate change challenges and opportunities on Prince Edward Island in a series of short talks. These will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
Throughout the day, tours of the facility will be offered, and students will present posters about their projects in climate-related fields. A light lunch will also be provided at 11:45 am.

The Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation is a living laboratory that gives world-class researchers and graduate and undergraduate students access to nearby wetlands, forests, and coastal habitats directly affected by climate change. The site provides access to high-quality datasets, multidisciplinary research teams, outstanding graduate and postdoctoral fellows, and engaged industry, community, and government partners.
The facility also includes research, innovation, and collaboration space; apartments for senior students and visiting faculty; storage and repair space for equipment and UPEI鈥檚 fleet of drones鈥攖he largest in Canada; and common areas designed to encourage interaction and integration of research focus areas.
Public transportation to and from the facility in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay is available through the T3 transit network. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to climatechangeadmin@upei.ca.
