69传媒announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, October 7 to 14
Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Janel MacKay and Simon Hofley, the 69传媒Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 7 to 14.
MacKay is a second-year flanker on the 69传媒women鈥檚 rugby team and a science major from South Granville, PEI. MacKay scored a try in the Panthers鈥� 15鈥�10 loss to Acadia over the weekend. 鈥淛anel was part of our dominant scrum and was a demon on defence,鈥� said coach John LaBoyne. 鈥淛anel exemplified how hard the team competed.鈥�
Hofley is a fourth-year goalie on the 69传媒men鈥檚 hockey team and a business student from Ottawa, Ontario. The Panthers went 1 and 1 over the weekend, beating the Universit茅 de Moncton 4鈥�1 and losing 3鈥�2 to the top-ranked UNB Reds. Hofley was a force in the net, saving 65 of 69 shots over the weekend. 鈥�Simon had a good week for us,鈥� said coach Forbes MacPherson. 鈥淗e stood strong against U de M in the third period, when they put a push on to tie the game. Simon did his job against UNB to give us a chance to win that game.鈥�
