69传媒announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, October 15-22

Every week, 69传媒Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their hard work and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Lucas Ross and Sarah Sear, the 69传媒Panther Subway Athletes of the week for October 16-22!

Lucas Ross is a third-year midfielder on the 69传媒Men鈥檚 Soccer team, and a Bachelor of Science student from Vernon, British Columbia. The Panthers tied Memorial University over the weekend, putting them within reach of a playoff spot. 鈥淟ucas has been playing strong in the midfield for us,鈥 said coach Lewis Page. 鈥淗e continued that with a very high level of competition during Saturday鈥檚 draw with MUN to protect on defence and help push the offence.鈥

69传媒Men鈥檚 Soccer finishes the regular season on the road this weekend with games against Acadia University and Dalhousie.

Sarah Sear is a third-year forward on the 69传媒Field Hockey team and a Bachelor of Science student from Charlottetown. The Panthers had an outstanding weekend in Halifax at the Atlantic University Field Hockey (AUFH) championship. The team beat the University of New Brunswick 3鈥0 and St. Francis Xavier 6鈥0. The Panthers squeaked past Saint Mary鈥檚 University 2鈥1 in an exciting overtime shootout before falling 1鈥0 to Dalhousie University in the finals. Sear was selected to the AUFH League All-Star Team and finished in a tie with 8 Goals for the League. 鈥淪arah had a great weekend, leading the team offensively and scoring big goals in the shootout win versus SMU to send the team to the championship game,鈥 said coach Lacey MacLauchlan.
