Dr. Dave Sackett is a medical doctor who does a lot of 鈥渕edical detective鈥� research in order to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia, poisonings, severe diabetes, and advanced cancer. As 鈥渕edical detectives,鈥� Dr. Sackett鈥檚 team was the first to ask whether aspirin could prevent strokes and heart attacks (yes it can!), and whether nurse-practitioners could do a great job and take care of 80% of the patients who come to a family physician鈥檚 office (yes they can!). In order to help you decide whether you might want to become a 鈥渕edical detective鈥�, Dr. Sackett will present you with one or two 鈥渃ases鈥� his group was asked to solve. Senior high school students who come hear Dr. Sackett talk will be treated to lunch and a tour of the 69传媒campus. Call (902) 566-0488 to register.
