When Dr. Ian Gardner took up the position as the Canada Excellence Research
Chair in Aquatic Epidemiology

he knew he was joining an already strong team of researchers at UPEI鈥檚
Atlantic Veterinary College.
鈥淭ruly, that was part of the appeal for me,鈥� says Dr. Gardner. 鈥淭he
expertise here in fish health and veterinary epidemiology is second to none
in the world.鈥�
That鈥檚 why Dr. Gardner likes to refer to the group around him as the CERC
team: a group of researchers鈥攅ach a leader in her or his specific area.
鈥淥ne area I thought the CERC team could expand to was economics,鈥� says Dr.
Gardner. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why I am pleased to say we鈥檝e acquired just that expertise
in Dr. Kehar Singh.鈥�
