As chair of the search committee for the Dean of the School of Business I am pleased to announce Dr. Juergen Krause as a candidate for the position. Dr. Krause is currently a faculty member and Interim Dean in the School of Business. On Monday February 10 at 2:00 pm, Dr. Krause will make a public presentation. The presentation will be in McDougall Hall, Room 328 and all faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. The topic of his talk will be "Describe your vision and fit for the position of the Dean of the School of Business at the 69´«Ã½." Dr. Fabrice Berrue, UPEI/Nautilus Biosciences Canada, will present a seminar on Wednesday, February 5 at 12:30 pm. Dr. Berrue's presentation is entitled "Natural products Chemistry: Expanded Mission and New Opportunities." The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre Room 212. All are welcome to attend.

69´«Ã½Men’s Basketball has teamed up with award-winning Kimberlee Farms of Centreville, Nova Scotia to raise funds for various 69´«Ã½athletic financial awards through the sale of honey crisp apples. The farm’s owner, Tim Pearson, is a long-time friend of 69´«Ã½Men’s Basketball Head Coach Tim Kendrick, and is also a Green & White Club member. Ten-pound bags of honey crisp apples will be sold for $20. Orders can be made through the men’s basketball players, or by visiting Panther Central. Join Laura Simms, an award-winning performer, writer, and educator for an evening of storytelling. Laura received the Brimstone Award for Engaged Storytelling, CHOICE award for best story collection, and Sesame Street’s SUNNY DAYS award for work with children worldwide. Laura is the mother of Ishmael Beah, former child solider in Sierra Leone, and author of A Long Way Gone, an international bestseller. A reception with refreshments will follow. Tickets are $20 and include admission, light refreshments, and one drink ticket per person. Nominations are open for for the 2013–14 Katherine Schultz Research Recognition Awards. Nominations can come from individuals or groups of people and should be accompanied by a supporting document demonstrating the nominee’s contributions to research at UPEI. The award comes with a thousand-dollar prize. Nominees can be a 69´«Ã½faculty member, staff member, or volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the research enterprise at UPEI. The Scholarships and Awards Committee will accept nominations until March 1.
