The Wellness Yoga that takes place on Tuesdays from 12:05 pm - 12:50 pm will change locations on Tuesday, March 21 to the Fitness Studio #2, Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. On March 28, the class will return to the Chaplaincy Centre. This class is a weekly class for 69传媒Students, staff and faculty and takes place weekly for the full calendar year.

The Master's of Nursing Program Graduate Studies Committee would like to invite the campus community to Valerie Abd-El-Aziz' public presentation of her master's thesis entitled "Fear of Falling, Physical Activity Volume, and Stage of Motivational Readiness to Change Physical Activity Behaviour of Adults in Late Midlife". Valerie's presentation will be held in HSB Rm. 103 on Friday, March 24 at 9:00 am.

Over the past several months, the Search Committee for the Vice-President Academic and Research (President Alaa Abd-El-Aziz, Dr. Cathy Ryan, Dr. Kathy Gottschall-Pass, Mr. Scott Harper, Ms. Margo Thompson, Ms. Tara Judson, Mr. John Rix) has received and considered expressions of interest and supporting documents from potential candidates for the position. Four outstanding candidates proceeded to the interview process. As a result, one candidate has been selected by the committee to deliver a 30-minute public presentation to campus.

Dr. Robert Gilmour, Jr. will present on Tuesday, March 21, from 2:00鈥2:30 pm in Lecture Theatre A at the Atlantic Veterinary College, followed by a one-hour opportunity for dialogue with the audience. The session will be moderated by Dr. Cathy Ryan.

The campus community is invited and encouraged to participate. The search committee values feedback and would appreciate receiving written comments following the presentation by email at VPARsearch@upei.ca by 5:00 pm, Monday, March 27, 2017. 

All graduates are required to rent and wear a gown and hood to their Convocation ceremony on May 13, 2017.

The cost to rent convocation regalia is $25.00 + taxes (or $30 onsite). Prepaid regalia can be picked up on Friday, May 12 and on Convocation Day, Saturday, May 13 upon presentation of a 69传媒ID and the Gaspard online confirmation form. Regalia must be returned an hour and a half following the ceremony.

Graduating students are encouraged to order early鈥攁nd no later than April 25, 2017鈥 to guarantee that a gown and hood will be available for them on Convocation Day by visiting

Ethics protocols that involve 鈥榤ore than minimal risk鈥 must be reviewed by the full 69传媒Research Ethics Board. The next deadline for submitting these protocols is Friday, April 7, 2017. These submissions will be reviewed at the April meeting. Protocols involving 鈥榤ore than minimal risk鈥 that are received after April 7 will be reviewed at the May 2017 meeting.

Other ethics protocol submissions, including new applications that do not involve 鈥榤ore than minimal risk鈥, renewals, and amendments may be submitted at any time. They will be sent for delegated review as soon as all necessary forms are received.

The Robertson Library is offering a presentation, with hands-on time, on Wednesday, March 22 at 12:30 pm in the LINC classroom in the Library. Standing desks increasing in popularity on campus! We are in the process of planning new standing desk research projects, and would like input from members of the campus community. What questions do you have about the pros and cons of standing desks? What would you like researchers to study regarding standing desks? Have you had any positive or negative experiences with standing desks?

We will be hosting a discussion on the above topics on March 23 from 12:00-1:00 pm in the Applied Human Sciences Boardroom, Health Sciences Building Rm. 323.

Mr. Pater's seminar is entitled, 鈥淎 common mutation in CLDN14 causes precipitous, prelingual sensorineural hearing loss in multiple Newfoundland families due to founder effect鈥.

The next 69传媒on-site training session in animal use and care will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the McCain Foundation Learning Commons Rm 278 N, AVC.

This will be a 3 hour training session with handouts, based on CCAC Recommended Syllabus (exam included).  The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) requires that all personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching, testing and service take this course.  (A refresher course is required every 5 years).

The Canadian Cancer Society is gearing up for their annual fresh cut daffodil sales and 69传媒is lucky to be a part of the pre-sale campaign. Daffodils will be delivered to 69传媒on Monday March 27th. Please consider purchasing daffodils in support of the research, education and patient services programs provided to Islanders and their families living with cancer.
