AVC currently has a male beagle named Roddy available for adoption. He is two years old, neutered, and vaccinated; a dental cleaning will be included with his adoption. Roddy is a silly puppy with a lot of energy and loves to run and play. He loves to play with other beagles and has not shown any signs of aggression. However, Roddy doesn鈥檛 always pick up on other dog鈥檚 social cues, and sometimes other dogs become agitated with his playfulness.

Roddy would thrive in a house with a family that is able to spend a lot of time training and exercising him. It is preferable that he is placed in a home where the owners are home most of the day. Single-pet and multi-pet households would be considered if it was the right fit.

If you are interested in learning more about Roddy, please contact Melissa Hamel at mhamel@upei.ca or 902-566-0938, or fill out the online adoption application at .

69传媒faculty and students are invited to attend a free online workshop, "ACENET Basics: Job Scheduling with Slurm," on September 23 from 10 to 11:30 am.

This workshop is designed for new HPC users, or for experienced users either transitioning to Slurm or seeking to improve efficiency with the scheduler. The Digital Research Alliance of Canada鈥檚 (Alliance) national systems use a job scheduler called 鈥淪lurm鈥. In this session you will learn how Slurm works and how it allocates jobs, helping you to minimize wait time by framing reasonable requests; ask for only the resources you need, to improve efficiency; increase throughput; run more jobs simultaneously; and troubleshoot and address crashes. Prerequisites: Completion of Introduction to Linux and Introduction to Shell Scripting, or prior experience with both.

DETAILS & REGISTER:

69传媒faculty and students are invited to register for a free online ACENET training session, "ACENET Basics: Introduction to Shell Scripting," on September 22, 2022, from 10 to 11:30 am.

This core session is designed for both new and experienced users. You鈥檒l learn how to use the command line to carry out repetitive tasks, extract information from files quickly, combine commands in powerful ways, and capture a workflow so you can re-use it easily. Save time, reduce errors, and use Linux more effectively. Prerequisite: ACENET Basic Series Introduction to Linux, or previous experience with Linux.

DETAILS & REGISTER:

69传媒faculty and students are invited to attend a free online workshop, "ACENET Basics: Introduction to High Performance Computing (HPC) with ACENET," on September 20, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:30 am.

This core session is designed to help new researchers get up and running. Researchers across many disciplines use HPC to tackle analyses that would be either inefficient or impossible on a desktop. This session offers a basic description of the infrastructure and support accessible, with entry-level advice about how to begin; an overview of the software packages available for applications, data analysis, and software development, and how to request specific software relevant to your work; and insight into the potential of parallel computing to accelerate your analysis.
