This 24-year-old mare enjoys a good scratch, treats, and outdoor life. Happy鈥檚 mantra is eat, sleep, treats, repeat. Because of her outlook on life, Happy is well-conditioned and has never had an issue staying this way. Happy gets along well with other horses and doesn鈥檛 put up much of a fuss over new friends. She would be a fantastic companion horse. Her hind limb lameness prevents her from being ridden or expending too much energy. However, she looks fantastic in a field. Her lovely personality and willingness to be handled and spoiled by humans make her an excellent candidate for someone who wants a horse to spoil and be loved by.

If you are interested in this lovely lady or would like more information, please contact Kindra at kinstewart@upei.ca

Dr. Ed MacDonald, professor of history, will give a public lecture titled "Enshrined: Island Tourism and the Confederation Story" on November 15 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building. For over a century, the three staple constants in Prince Edward Island tourism have been our pastoral landscape, Anne of Green Gables, and the Island's claim as the "Birthplace of Confederation." But becoming the "Cradle of Confederation" was not as easy as it sounds, and the story of how Island tourism promoters recognized the tourism potential of that claim and then gradually convinced Canadians that it was both true and important presents a fascinating case study of "site sacralization" and branding in Canada's Garden Province. For this lecture, Dr. MacDonald will draw upon research conducted by him and his co-author, Dr. Alan MacEachern, for their new book, The Summer Trade: A History of Tourism on Prince Edward Island.

All are welcome to attend.

This is an introductory lesson adapted from the Library Carpentry workshop on Introduction to working with Data [] that introduces people with library- and information-related roles, or those in the Humanities and Social Sciences professions that work with data, to using regular expressions. Regular expressions are a concept and an implementation used in many different programming environments for sophisticated pattern matching. They are an incredibly powerful tool that can amplify your capacity to find, manage, and transform data and files. The lesson provides background on the regular expression language and how it can be used to match and extract text and to clean data. No previous experience with programming is required.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for students is coming in January 2023!

69传媒is improving the security of your account and your data by introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all students. MFA will be required on January 24, 2023.

What is MFA?
MFA is an electronic authentication method where access is granted after two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) are successfully presented to an authentication mechanism. MFA prevents a security breach by an unauthorized third party that may have been able to discover your password, for example.

Does MFA impact me?
Anyone using a 69传媒account in a student capacity will required to have MFA. Some examples include

-    students, full time and part time, currently registered for courses in all 69传媒programs
-    students, full time and part time, who are eligible to register for courses but may not have registered in the current semester
-    newly admitted students who will be attending 69传媒in a future semester and currently have an @69传媒email account
-    students who graduated in May 2022 and will be transitioning to alumni email accounts
-    students who have enrolled in courses in the past 12 months but who may not be currently registered
-    students who have enrolled in continuing education courses and have been issued an @69传媒email account

How does MFA impact me?
In January, students must have MFA to access many 69传媒applications and services, including Outlook email, OneDrive, Google Drive, and myUPEI. Once MFA is enabled, you will continue to sign in using your 69传媒email address and password, just like you do today. However, there will be one additional step, such as responding to an app notification on your mobile device before you are able to access the services mentioned above.

How do I set up MFA?
Instructions on how to set up MFA can be found at

Can I set up MFA prior to January 24?
Yes! In fact, it is strongly recommended that all students register for MFA prior to January 24 to avoid any interruption in accessing 69传媒services.

If you require additional assistance or have further questions, contact the ITSS Help Desk at helpdesk@upei.ca or (902) 566-0465.

Monday, November 14, is World Diabetes Day, and the theme this year is "Education to Protect Tomorrow."  Approximately 16,000 Islanders are living with diabetes; 95 per cent have type 2 diabetes. If diabetes is unmanaged or undiagnosed, individuals living with it could experience complications that are challenging and potentially life-limiting.  To learn more, check out Diabetes Canada's .

Version control is the practice of managing and sharing changes to documents, programming code, websites, or any other files to keep track of what鈥檚 been changed, by whom, when, and why. All previous versions of files are saved, and you can even revert to a previous version. Git-portal sites, like GitHub or GitLab, offer many useful features to facilitate collaborative development. In this beginner-level session, we will show you how to create a repository, record changes to files, explore and restore from the recorded history, and how to resolve conflicts (when one member overwrites another鈥檚 changes).
