Dr. Tamayo-Vera works on integrating advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques with environmental applications. Her research uses machine learning and deep learning to enhance crop modelling and optimize agricultural strategies, particularly under climate change conditions. By developing an Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) framework, she aims to improve the accuracy of predictive models in agriculture, addressing uncertainties in decision-making processes. Her work also emphasizes explainable AI to ensure transparency and trust in AI systems among stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to leverage AI's potential to solve complex environmental challenges, facilitating sustainable development and informed policy making.
