We are looking for students, staff, and faculty to volunteer to assist with events during Mental Health Week. We're establishing an initial database and once the events are finalized (snow days have set us a bit behind), we will share the the event sign up sheet with those interested in helping out.
Events run Tues Feb 28 to Friday March 3, with a one day conference as a capstone on Saturday March 4.

Sam Sweet, MSc student, will present a seminar on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 12:30 pm. Sam Sweet's presentation is entitled "Recent Advances in Carbon Nanotube Synthesis and Applications". The seminar will be held in the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre, Lecture Theatre, Rm. 212.

The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions (new, renewal, or amendment) is Friday, March 3, 2017.

Gloria Dennis, an outreach worker from Anderson house will give a presentation on the topic of family violence in Prince Edward Island. Coffee and tea will be provided and admission is by donation. Following the presentation (2:30-3:30 pm) the Applied Human Sciences Society will be hosting a candy buffet!
Registration for UPEI鈥檚 2017 Summer Sessions and the release of the my69传媒"Student Planning" tool have been rescheduled to now begin Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
The my69传媒Celebration (and opportunity to learn more) that was originally scheduled for Thursday, February 16 has been rescheduled to Monday, February 27 at 12:00 pm in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre. All students, staff, and faculty are invited to visit the learning stations, and to enjoy the free swag and refreshments!

On February 15 and 17 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm come on down to the W.A. Murphy Student Centre and show your support for the awareness and prevention of family violence. There will be a table set up with purple post-it notes, where you can write a positive message such as, "I'm taking a stand", to show your support. We will have the purple post-it's on display and there will be brochures, posters, awareness ribbons, face tattoos and treats!
Let's do our part in raising awareness and prevention on family violence.
There will be a 69传媒biosafety refresher training session Thursday, February 23, 2017 1:00 鈥� 3:00 pm in room 237, Kelley Memorial Builiding.
This session is required for those who attended the Basic Biosafety course in 2013 or earlier. It is not a substitute for Basic Biosafety. Topics to be covered include a review of basic biosafety principles, a practical approach to spill cleanup, and an update on what鈥檚 new at 69传媒in the field of biosafety.

There will be a 69传媒Basic Biosafety training session Friday, February 24, 2017 9:00 am 鈥� 12:00 pm in room 237, Kelley Memorial Building.
Topics to be covered include basic biosafety principles and how they are applied at the 69传媒, as well as biosecurity training. This session is open to graduate students.
Please note: anyone who has not attended a training session since 2013 is required to take the Biosafety Refresher Course.

The PEI History of Medicine Society welcomes Dr. Erika Dyck, Canada Research Chair, from the University of Saskatchewan, who will give a talk on Monday, February 13 at 7:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, on LSD and Psychiatry.
Her talk is entitled:鈥淎 Psychedelic Renaissance 鈥� Can we avoid tripping this time?鈥�, in which she examines the historical clinical uses of LSD in Canada, including the facility that led to the coining of the term 鈥減sychedelic,鈥� and the infamous Hollywood Hospital that offered psychedelic treatments for addictions.She explores some of the lessons that a close reading of LSD鈥檚 past has to offer to today鈥檚 鈥淧sychedelic Renaissance鈥�.

In recognition of the outstanding performance and dedication of our faculty and staff, a number of annual awards have been created to acknowledge their efforts and achievements.
Up to 10 Presidential Awards of Merit for 69传媒Faculty, Librarians and Clinical Veterinary Professionals and four Presidential Awards of Merit for 69传媒Staff will be awarded in 2017. These awards will be presented during a Celebration of Colleagues to be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre.
Susan Connolly, Associate Vice-President, Human Resources & Legal, will lead the process and chair the committee to select award recipients.
