SHIFT Project PEI has an anonymous short survey that is open until October 4th. The survey can be accessed at this or from the front page of the , on Facebook or Instagram (SHIFT Project PEI.) It is open to all Islanders aged 18 and up, whether or not they have experienced or witnessed workplace sexual harassment. There is a prize draw for a $150 gift card of your choice for all participants who want to enter. Data results will be released in the November, to give employers and employees a clearer picture of what is happening in PEI workplaces. The goal of SHIFT is to raise awareness and provide education in the prevention and resolution of incidents of workplace sexual harassment.

About this event
Join and in our Introductory R for Ecologists workshop series. Over three weeks, we will explore data analysis and visualization with R, based on the Data Carpentry Lessons. Each week will build off the last 鈥� if you miss a week, check out the previous link to follow along!
No previous coding experience necessary.
We will start with basic R syntax and the R Studio notebook interface. Then, we鈥檒l teach you how to import CSV files, the structure of data frames, how to deal with factors, how to add/remove rows and columns, how to calculate summary statistics from a data frame, and a brief introduction to plotting. The last lesson demonstrates how to work with databases directly from R.
Be sure to come prepared and have the appropriate software and data files downloaded. You will need to have a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages. For all students, faculty and staff who identify as partially or non-vaccinated for COVID-19, you are required to have a COVID-19 test at least weekly. 69传媒will offer testing clinics on Fridays at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The tests are free and very quick/easy. If you are unable to attend these clinics and require testing, please go to a Health PEI testing clinic and submit the test result via COVID19testing@upei.ca. In consideration of the difficulties that exposure to scented products cause to sensitive individuals 69传媒asks for your cooperation in making our campus a scent-free environment. We ask that all faculty, staff, students, and visitors refrain from wearing or using products with strong scents/fragrances while on campus. A few examples of products to refrain from wearing or using are: colognes/perfumes, strongly scented body sprays and lotions, hair care products with strong scents, strongly scented shaving lotion, air fresheners, scented candles and Aromatic Oils (used in aromatherapy).

The campus foodbank continues to welcome students, new and returning to our Wednesday 2:00 - 7:00 schedule. Volunteers also continue to step up. We will continue these hours for October and November. Volunteers can use this to access the sign up sheet. New volunteers are always welcome.

The 69传媒Department of Music is pleased to present a virtual video concert of the 69传媒Wind Symphony's 2020-2021 season, during which we were unable to perform for a live audience. Directed by Dr. Dale Sorensen, the program features works by Samuel R. Hazo, David Maslanka, Omar Thomas, Canadian composers Morley Calvert, Michael Colgrass, and Cait Nishimura, and small ensemble works featuring the clarinet, saxophone, and brass sections. The video will premiere on YouTube at on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 7:30pm ADT, and will remain available afterwards.
The 69传媒Teaching and Learning Centre is organizing a couple of reading groups for educators on campus this fall. There will be two groups, one in-person and one virtual. We have several book options, let us know which one(s) you'd like to read and discuss with colleagues. Take a look at the summaries and then let us know your preferences. On Thursday, September 30, 69传媒will mark the first official National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, recently designated by the Government of Canada as a federal statutory holiday. This is a day for all Canadians to remember the tragic history and legacy of residential schools in our country and the intergenerational impacts they have had on First Nations and Indigenous Peoples.
In preparation for this day of reflection, the 69传媒community is invited to gather on Tuesday, September 28, at 11:30 am, rain or shine, at the outdoor Murphy Family Amphitheatre next to the 69传媒Chaplaincy Centre for events that include a smudge ceremony, singing and drumming with Heartbeat of Epekwitk, a tree planting, jingle dress dancing, and a presentation by Elder-in-Residence Dr. Judy Clark as she shares her knowledge of residential schools and reflects on her experiences in Indian Day School.
Every Child Matters t-shirts will be sold for $20.00 each by the 69传媒Bookstore starting September 20 until supplies last. These t-shirts were designed and created by a local company, Mi鈥檏maq Printing and Design. We encourage everyone to wear these or any orange shirt to campus on Tuesday, September 28, as we come together to remember.
Join us in-person on September 28 and/or online for the entire week as we prepare to remember and honour the lives lost, the survivors, and their families during this first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30.

The Teaching and Learning Centre invites you to Weekly Coffee Chats, informal get-togethers over coffee (or tea) to chat with peers and colleagues. Meet new friends or connect with old ones across departments and disciplines. These are not technical help-sessions, but we welcome all faculty, librarians and instructional staff (CNIs, lab instructors, etc.) with questions, comments, or concerns in addition to a warm, friendly conversation. No RSVP needed, just drop in anytime.
