The Concussion Awareness Program invites you to participate in our survey to better understand how we can improve the care of concussed children and young adults on PEI. This study is being led by the Concussion Awareness Program (CAP) located here at UPEI.
The goal of the CAP is to increase public awareness related to concussion injury including the steps and protocols that facilitate recovery. The findings from this survey will help us refine our strategic plan.
The survey will take approximately 30 minutes with open-ended, ranking, and classifying questions. If interested, please contact cbeck8805@upei.ca or call 902-628-4300.
Yoga Instructor Pam Harris will guide you through a 45-minute class offering meditation and gentle yoga stretches. The meditation segment of the class creates more calm, inner peace, and balance that benefits both your emotional well-being and overall health

Staff/Faculty who participated in the first session ( Sept 23 - Oct28) are not eligible for the second session. However, if the November 4 session isn't full by October 26, we will open up any spots left for those who registered in the first session. But spots are a first register basis. Abstract: In this session you will learn about the design and costing of a Guaranteed Basic Income program in Canada (sometimes referred as Universal Income) which was part of the most recent budget of the federal government of Canada in April 2021 and of its potential challenges as well as the roles of actuaries in the various phases of its implementation.

The Department of Health Management will be interviewing 3 candidates for the tenure-track faculty position in Aquatic Epidemiology. As part of the interview process, each candidate has been asked to present two brief seminars: one suitable for DVM/graduate students and the other presentation of their research.
Dr. Thitiwan Patanasatienkul received her DVM and MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology from Kasetsart University, Thailand and completed her PhD in Health Management, specializing in Aquatic Epidemiology, at the 69传媒 (UPEI), Canada.
Dr. Patanasatienkul is well versed in numerous epidemiological methods, which she applied to a wide range of species, from terrestrial to aquatic animals. Her doctoral research focused on using modelling approaches to explore interactions in aquatic host-pest systems (i.e., sea lice in wild salmon populations and tunicate invasive species in farmed mussel). She continued her career in aquatic epidemiology working as a postdoctoral fellow under the Canada Excellence Research Chair at UPEI, where she gained international experience working with different industries in Asian countries.
Dr. Patanasatienkul adopts a research approach focused on the collaboration among industry, regulatory agencies, and academic colleagues to produce insights to inform the aquaculture and fisheries industries in their decision-making. She believes epidemiological research is a key element to support the blue economy and aims to use her expertise to improve the stewardship of aquatic resources and the sustainability of aquaculture.

It is with great sadness that 69传媒announces that Ewoma Michael Okah, a student in the Faculty of Business, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in Charlottetown.
The University has been in touch with Michael鈥檚 family and friends and extends sincere condolences to them in Nigeria and here on the Island. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts as they mourn this devastating loss. Flags at the University have been lowered to half-mast in Michael鈥檚 memory. Details for a vigil being planned by the community will be shared as soon as they become available.

The staff at the Health Centered Research Clinic at 69传媒are offering a free 8 session Health Self-Management program for any 69传媒Staff or Faculty.
The program will consist of 8 weekly group education sessions with a Health Promoter and Registered Dietitian (and other guest speakers) and individualized exercise sessions with a Kinesiologist (plus open gym times) located in the lower level of the Steel Building.
